Google Page Rank Is Dead - Or Is It? - Part I

For a long time now, marketing gurus all over the world have been talking about google page ranking. Page ranking is simply Google’s way of measuring your pages accordingly.

But there is a problem…

More and more we tend to see NO consistency with page ranking at all. Please don’t confuse the difference between “page ranking” & “search engine ranking”. The two are completely different.

With this method of measurement, we could quickly see how much or how little a person has put into promoting their website. A high rank of 6,7,8,9,10 is sometimes held as something honerable to have for your site but does it really matter?

In some aspects it does and in some it doesn’t.

As I mentioned above, page ranking has nothing to do with your search engine success. It (did) have everthing to do with “importance”. The only problem is (like so many marketing ventures online), this measurement method is dying off with the rest of them. People online are very intuitive about these sort of things and tend to over saturate ways to beat them and/or improve on them quickly.

The Myth of Internet Marketing: aka The Golden Carrot

Why am I so mad I could throw my computer right out of my upstairs window?

Well, I’ll tell you. But first I want to tell you who I am.

My name is Cathy Smith and I work at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan. In the past two years the Governer of our state has cut the state funding for higher education by a whopping 20%. This has resulted in layoffs and job eliminations at our university.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

We used to have a four person office but now thanks to university DOWNSIZING we only have a two person office.

I am one of the “lucky” ones who survived the cuts and still have a job. I not only have my own job but the jobs of the two people in our office who were eliminated. So now I have three FULL-TIME jobs. See how lucky I am?

How To Get Free Advertising By Giving Away Online Content

Giving away content is a powerful way to get free advertising. For example, give other people permission to use your article on their web site or in their e-zine. The resource box at the end of your article acts as an ad. In return, you get free advertising. It’s a win/win situation for both you and the people that need the extra content.

There are many forms of free content. It could be articles, reports, news stories, e-books, e-zines, e-mags, virtual e-mail courses, press releases, web books, etc.

You can take it a step further and make giving away content an even more powerful way to get free advertising. For example, give your free e-book to one person and allow them the rights to also give it away. Do you see what I’m leading up to? Let’s say only 20 people download your e-book. Those 20 people may give away your e-book to 20 more people. That’s a total of 400 people that have seen your ad in the e-book. And it just keeps multiplying!

Attract New Subscribers With Magnetic Ads

One of the most effective methods of advertising your e-zine is placing ads in OTHER e-zines!

There are many reasons why, but the top three are:

  • you’re advertising to other readers whom you know are already interested in e-zines
  • you can finely target other e-zines whose readers would likely be interested in YOUR topic
  • it’s easy and inexpensive
  • First, you’ll need to get your ads ripe and ready. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to write them - it should only take you about 10 minutes.

  • Gimme the “meat.” What do you have to offer?

No one’s going to give a hoot about your e-zine unless you tell them what they’ll GET out of it.

  • What does your e-zine show, teach, or share with your reader?

Write them down now. For example, my other e-zine, “Publish for Profits,” tells how to publish and promote an effective e-mail newsletter..

  • NOW, translate those features into benefits.
  • By showing my readers how to publish and promote an effective newsletter, “Publish for Profits” helps them attract new clients/customers and increase sales. THAT’s what they really care about! Get your result down to one or two sentences. You now have the “body” of your ad.

  • Write your headline.

Pay Per Click: Whats It All About?

No doubt you’ve heard the phrase “pay per click” before. This refers to any type of advertising where you only pay per click-through.

Traditional Web advertising, such as banner ads, charged advertisers based how many people SAW your ad. But with pay-per-click deals, you only pay for how many people actually CLICK on your ad (to get to your offer page or Web site).

This is great because essentially you only pay for RESULTS.

    THE PAY-PER-CLICK SEARCH PHENOMENON

One of the most popular places pay-per-click has become a phenomenon is within search engines and Web directories. For example, let’s use one of my own listings.

Go to http://www.yahoo.com/ right now and search for “ezine publishing.” On the search results page, you’ll see at the VERY top a section called “Sponsor Listings.”

Guess who is listed up here? Yours truly! In fact, at the time I wrote this article, my book site - http://www.ezinequeen.com/tutorial/index.htm - is listed at number one.

Underneath the sponsor listings is the section called “Web Matches,” which shows the regular search engine listings that are submitted and indexed the traditional way.

Generating Sales with Lead Generation and Online Marketing Tools

One of the best projects to undertake as an online marketer is to master the art of generating sales from your warm market contacts. A warm market is simply people who have already been exposed to your business and marketing plan. It can be described as "breaking the ice" with your potential customers. The best ways to generate sales from a warm market is with lead generation marketing tools.

A marketing tool is a tool that people use to create what we call lead prosperity. “If you are not in lead prosperity, you are not making money with your online business”. With lead generation marketing tools you may decide to create several lead capture pages which are designed to generate interest from prospects on your business. The pages will contain a place to enter their contact information i.e. (name, telephone number, and email). This is also called a lead capture form.

How to Get More Links to Your Websites and Improve Traffic

I feel the most effective way to get people to link to your web site is by offering web masters the option of giving away your free stuff. In exchange, they link to your web site. Why would other web masters want to do this? They may want give away a freebie to draw traffic to their web site. They also may not have the time, knowledge or skills to give away certain types of electronic freebies from their web site.

Your links will just keep multiplying. When a web master offers your freebie to his or her visitors. Those visitors may decide to also give away your freebie. And so on and so on… The more people that link to your web site the more traffic you’ll get. Below are four of the most popular types of freebies given away on the internet to increase traffic.

    Free Software

Offer free software from your web site. The software could be freeware, shareware or demos.

    Free Online Services

Offer a free online service from your web site. The online service could be an e-mail account, search engine submission or e-mail consulting, etc.

    Linking for Traffic not Positioning!

With more and more experts and search engine enthusiasts
claiming the right way and the wrong way to handle link
swapping, link exchanging or reciprocal linking!

You can tell something is important when there is more than
    one name for it! GRIN!

There are also two schools of thought on the reasons link
    swapping.

The first reason for link swapping has always been to carry
favour with Search engine rankings. Have a good site with
lots of links and this is seen as a good thing and
therefore Search Engines will rank you higher.

Sadly, like all things in life, this system can be abused
and taken to the extreme. Sites are buying in hundreds if
not thousands of links trying to “boost” their ranking
artificially. This is fine in the short term but we are
starting to see a fundamental shift in Search Engine
    algorhythms.

My last article of link swapping , If Content is King, then
surely relevance is Queen! explains my personal view of
relevant linking which is still follow.

There is now a second and perhaps more disturbing reason for
    swapping links.

To build a useful link resource or directory for your
    visitors.

    Is Internet Marketing Saturated?

Is internet marketing and the potential for it saturated? I have wondered this many times but pure logic wins me over. It has at many times caused me to give up on an idea or marketing plan based on the belief that there were so many other people doing it my offer would never be considered. But after reading the following article you can get an idea that the internet is like a new city that crops up everyday, under a new sun, with all kinds of possibilities before you. You just need to see them and then take the reins and hold on.

This is how I view internet marketing.

Somebody owns a large plot of land. They put out an ad that welcomes 100,000 people to come build a home and a business on this land all for free. The first thing everyone needs is a place to live. So they must first build a home. “But how do we build a home without lumber?” They ask. Many of the people having the spirit of an entrepreneur see an opportunity to make money ,so 1,000 of these 100,000 people open up a lumber company. And all 1,000 of these people end up making a good profit. “That’s great, but how are we going to build our homes without the tools and hardware?” they asked. So 1,000 more people open up a hardware store. And all 1,000 of these people end up making a good profit.
