Know When Two Sites Are Better Than One?

Know When Two Sites Are Better Than One?
 by: John Gergye

Back in the good old days it wasn’t nearly so tough to get decent rankings fast. Wasn’t nearly so complicated either. You put up some pages, got some links and built from there. Enjoying improving rankings on your way to the top.

But that was then and this is now. Now there might be times where you WOULD be better off with two sites, (same niche) than just one.

And if I might chance to read you mind you’re thinking, “What? Is this guy crazy? I can’t keep one site going and growing much less two.”

I’m with you. But read on to discover when you might want to break out the second site.

===> Aggressive Article Marketing

Say you’re engaged in an aggressive article marketing campaign. Or you’re chasing as many reciprocal links as you can. Both legit ways to drive potential visitors or customers or subscribers to your site.

Yet how’s that going to mesh with the go slow approach to links Google now favors? Think your zeal might throw be like throwing sugar in the gas tank? And ace you out of the running for top rankings in Google? Maybe.

Success is a Process, Not an Event

We all need a little inspiration once in a while, and we all need to be reminded that achieving success is a process, not an event. It doesn’t happen over night. Here are some ideas for improving your chances of internet business success.

Have a plan, preferrably written. We all need to get organized, and have a vision of where we are going. Some people seem always to take the impulsive “fire … aim … ready” approach and do everything without thinking. At the other extreme are those who are subject to “the paralysis of analysis” … they spend all their time thinking, and never get into action. As with most things, moderation is the key. Take some time to think out a plan and write down the sequence, then get to work. The plan can always be revised as you go.

Treat your internet business as a real business. If you’re serious about making money, or achieving personal freedom, you have to think of this as a business, not a game or a hobby. Discipline yourself to work on your business regularly. Set aside an hour a day, or one day a week, or whatever your personal schedule allows, and discipline yourself to abide by that schedule. Setting aside an area of your house to be your “office” is always a good idea, too. Even if it’s only 10 square feet in the corner of your bedroom, that is your “office”.

Want Higher Adsense Earnings? Then Optimize Site Navigation

Webmasters know that Adsense generates a sizeable source of additional advertising income. That’s why they’re using it to go after the "high paying keywords." They’ve bought the lists that tell them what these keywords are and they’ve used various other methods of identifying them. And yet, after putting up these "high paying" pages on their websites, the advertising money they expected to see isn’t rolling in. What’s wrong?

Well, having those pages is one thing. But driving visitors to those pages is an entirely different thing and is often what’s lacking. To get visitors to your high paying keyword pages, you’ve got to optimize site navigation.

Take a moment to think about how visitors use your website. After landing on a certain page, they’ll often click to another page that sounds interesting. They get there by way of the other links that appear on the page they landed on. How you enable visitors to move about your website is what is meant by the term, "Site Navigation."

A typical website has a menu of links on each page. The wording on these links is what grabs a visitor’s attention and gets them to click on one of the links that will take them to another page of your website. Links labeled "Free Resources" or "Download ebooks" are generally good attention-grabbers.

Back in Time to the Advent of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Back in Time to the Advent of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
 by: Wendy Suto

As long as the Internet has been around, it has remained a mystery to the mainstream public how Web sites are listed at the top of search engine results. There are many theories of how search engines and search engine optimization (SEO) initially began.

The 1990s

Alan Emtage, a student at the University of McGill, created the first true “search” program in 1990 called Archie (still in use today), to archive Web documents. The following year, Gopher started at the University of Minnesota, and this is when the concept of search engines began. In 1993, Matthew Gray created the World Wide Web Wanderer, the earliest known search engine robot that assists with ranking Web sites. But search engines as we use them today were born in 1994. In that same year, Galaxy, Lycos and Yahoo! were all started, two of which are still widely popular search engines today.

Your newsletter’s success depends on its design. An attractive, easy to read newsletter encourages readers to pay attention to your message. However, cluttered, hard to read newsletters discourage readership ? no matter how good the ideas contained inside.

Designing a Better System for Search Engines

Designing a Better System for Search Engines and Information Distribution, information and knowledge are power. Having run out of things to study today, I thought about Researching and Research. Here are some observations on R and R. If you owned a body shop that would be remove and replace. For many Americans it is rest and relaxation, but for Wash Guys it is now researching Research (ing) and/or (ers). I believe that Search engines are getting better as that business model continues to perform before, during and after the Internet Bubble. However I believe they can do better.

Having used many search engines and multi-engines like Copernic.com and Alexa and Dog Pile for research I see some great benefits. Also knowing the similar search words without having to type them into the engine is benefit. I am impressed with the work of this group. They are improving the ability to retrieve information on the Internet will be the key to online learning and research. For instance here is one idea to be looked into, this is a good idea;

What is Blogging?

Blogs have been around for many years but have recently become somewhat a new ‘craze’. A Blog is short for Web Log is basically an online journal. They can be set up at little to no cost at all, and can be used for a wide variety of things. Some bloggers just blog for the fun of it, while others tend to use their blogs for business reasons.

The following are just a few ways blogs can be used:

1) Updates
Keep customers/clients up to date on changes to your website. Also new product announcement and new related websites.

2) Reviews
You can give opinions, advice and personal recommendations on specific products or services related to your field.

3) Personal and Business uses
Blogs are a great way to keep track of your goals and plans just by open writing.

4) Stress Reliever
Jot down your vents, gripes, thoughts. Some also find general writing therapeutic.

5) Search Engine Optimization
Search Engines love text and content. You can also include links to your website which equal backward links which in turn equals high ranking.

The Deadly Sin Of Inaction

“There is difference between knowing the path and walking the path”

- Morpheus, Matrix Revolutions.

Can you make money on the net?

What kind of question is that?

Of course you know that it can be made. That is why you are reading an article on internet marketing

It is good to know. Knowledge is an essential item that we should possess.

My next question is to a particular segment.

Why are you not in business then?

Many a people know that money can be made on the internet. A lot of them also know that potential is huge.

But why then they do not start their own business and earn money.

They just know. They do not endeavor.

Just knowing is not enough. One must realize what he knows. Only then he can be convinced about the actual path and destination. So many people start their business on the net. They know they can earn money and lot of that. But they stop midway before they can earn a single dime.

Why?

There is a difference between knowing and walking the path.

Why You Should Avoid Google’s Content Network

Why You Should Avoid Google’s Content Network
 by: George Peters

When you create an AdWords campaign you have a choice as to whether you want your ads to appear on Google’s network of content sites. These are sites that have signed up for Google’s Adsense program, which allows them to display AdWords ads on their pages. Generally speaking, this is not very targeted traffic. Google tries to display your ad on pages with relevant content, and it does a pretty good job of it. Nonetheless, I personally do not like this traffic, and I will tell you why.

When marketing on the Internet, the sooner your ad is displayed to your prospect, the greater your chance of making a sale. This is the reason why search engine traffic performs so well. Most surfers initiate their Internet activity at a search engine. Indeed, many have a search engine like Google, Yahoo, or MSN set as their home page. In other words, it is the first thing they see when they log onto the Internet.

The Myth of Rankings - Beyond Search Engine Optimization

What follows is a condensed version of a conversation that happens all too frequently when I am approached by a prospect interested in search engine optimization (SEO):

Prospect: We need our website optimized, because we aren’t showing up for any searches.
Me: What searches have you tried?
Prospect: We don’t show up for ANYTHING.
Me: Why do you want to show up in searches?
Prospect: Well, it seems like we should. Our competitors do, and our website is WAY better than theirs.
Me: But, really, what would you stand to gain from showing up prominently in search engine results?
Prospect: Well, we could get more people who are looking for our products or services to find out about us.
Me: So, what you are saying is that increasing your search engine results could help you to increase sales and awareness?
Prospect: Yes.
Me: Now we’re on the right track. Since your goals are to increase sales and awareness, have you thought about not only improving your search engine rankings, but also getting more people to take an action on your site that leads to a sale, getting more people to read your press releases or whitepapers so that they can consistently associate your company with your offering, or sending your prospects a regular newsletter to reinforce your name and expertise?
Prospect: Didn’t you hear me? Our website is great. We just don’t show up for searches.
