Introduction to RSS

Introduction to RSS
 by: Avneet Sethi

Before we discuss RSS, let us define what a ‘feed’ is.

A “feed” is a medium of providing specific information to online audience.

A Feed is not SPAM. A Publisher can use this media to provide latest information to the right audience or syndicate content on the web. A web user can use feed readers to access information on the web they like and get latest updates delivered to them.

RSS Feeds Definition »

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication (or Rich Site Summary and also RDF Site Summary).

XML document type, RSS feed is typically used to share web content. The simplicity of RSS has lead to its popularity among webmasters for distributing news, weblogs and other web content.

RSS feed is designed to contain titles, short descriptions and a link to the full text.

Why RSS Feeds are so popular?

Every one of us has some typical websites we like to visit everyday to get latest information. If those websites have the same information available in RSS format, we would be able to receive information from all our favorite websites in form of headlines and short descriptions without having to actually visit the website first!

To All Internet Marketers - How To Get My Business

More and more people are realizing that the Internet offers great potential to set up a healthy business for pennies on the dollar. This is good news for internet marketers - but it also means that they need to lift their game.

Why? Because the would-be “netpreneur” has access to way more training than ever before. It’s possible to get up to speed very quickly on what is needed to get started online. This, in turn, means that people quickly recognize what offers true value and what does not. They see so many sales letters that they become, to a certain degree, immune to the typical hype. They’re willing to spend - but they want value for money. They want to be treated like intelligent and discerning adults.

So here’s a message to all ‘gurus’ (and aspiring gurus) who are keen to get their share of the dollars waiting to be sent flying their way via cyberspace.

1) What does it take to make people want to buy “you” rather than some other internet marketer?

2) What might make people want to unsubscribe from your list?

3) And what pushes them into asking for a refund?

Search Engine Algorithm Quandaries

Before you make drastic changes to your website after a rocky search engine update, take time to study your web server logs, changes in traffic to your site, and your ranking in the search engines.

Making Changes Before Analysis

Making rash decisions when you are hearing one thing then another from forum postings and articles is not the best choice to make. Much of the talk about fluctuations in the search engine rankings is just that–talk. Cold hard facts come from established tests of what is going on and why. Don’t jump ship before examining what is going on with your website first. Panic will lead you nowhere.

Let’s talk about basic search engine fundamentals you need to know.

Search Engine Rankings Fluctuate

First, you need to know that search engine rankings fluctuate; that is just the way it is. Google is a prime example of ranking changes happening throughout the day. The best way to find out how you are faring is to study the traffic coming to your site over time. Nope, not just a day or two, try a week or two at least to see if your rankings return. A search engine update may last a week before finishing and the rankings settle. Most importantly, are you receiving traffic at your website? Are you still making sales? Okay then, something is working. Don’t jump on the “change everything” bandwagon. Pay attention to what is true in regard to your website.

Marketing and Distributing Your Products

Marketing and Distributing Your Products

Increase Success With A Marketing And Distribution Plan

When considering a strong business plan, one of the first areas would be to consider is a firm plan of marketing and distribution. Proper marketing and distribution of your product line can be the lifeblood of your success. The two also have to work in unison in order for your company’s product line or lines to move in a smooth fashion. Many upstart companies focus too much attention on their investment and what they hope they will see a return. That marketing and distribution doesn’t get the foremost attention that it needs to make that return happen. That is one of the sole reasons the majority of startup businesses fail to make it past the five-year mark.

Start your marketing and distribution plan with these three questions: Who will use what you offer? Is there a demand for what you offer? Who are competitors and how do they market? These question will lead you to your target market and will give you a clue on how to reach them.

An Internet Marketing Secret: Using Tie-Downs to Increase Sales

If you could get your prospective customers nodding their heads in agreement with every major point in your sales copy, that would be likely to increase your sales, wouldn’t it?

If you could get people saying “yes” to almost any marketing statement of your choosing - long before they even get to the close - that would be valuable to you, right?

Did you find yourself agreeing with the last two questions? You’ve just experienced a sales technique called “tie-downs.” One very old direct sales principle is to get people to say yes to multiple little questions. This gets them agreeing with you and also gets them used to saying yes. Psychologically, they will then be more likely to say yes when you ask for the sale. One sales technique for achieving that is the tie-down.

Quality traffic, website promotion and product and service advertisement is the number one mission for new website owners and existing website owners that are looking to grow. Finding reliable marketing has been my goal over the past year.

There are many companies that can take the anxiety out of marketing your product and or service.

There are many well respected internet businesses. They provide various internet based website marketing packages. They offer web linking, email marketing, press releases, search engine submission, targeted traffic and more. I have written a four part series that deals directly with their products and services.

In this part you will find information on web linking to online internet malls.

With web linking you can have your site linked to over seven thousand online shopping malls. These online shopping malls are owned by different companies, entrepreneurs and individuals. These web malls get hundreds of thousands of page visits per day.

The online malls have over 150,000 incoming links from search engines and web sites around the world. The incoming links continue to attract steady customers who are the foundation of your web sites exposure. This is a way to share your products and services with the world. So many web sites come and go on a daily basis.

Is There A Future For Spam?

Will you always be buried underneath a mountain of spam? Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? With the current flood of spam to your inbox and ever more devious practices on the part of spammers you’d be forgiven for thinking that spam is here to stay.

The tide has turned folks. It may not seem like that right now with spam being just as abundant as ever. Spammers are getting desperate though. Their most recent move to use home computers as spam zombies demonstrates this desperation quite clearly. For spammers to want to use low speed cable and DSL connections to send their junk email means one thing - the email servers they’re normally using are being blocked as quickly as they go online.

This is not to say that spam will just disappear. The volume of spam you’re receiving hasn’t noticeably reduced. Not yet but it will. Education is beginning to take effect. People are deleting spam instead of replying to it. Home users are hiding their PCs behind firewalls, antivirus software and spam filters. Companies are implementing enforcable Internet policies which prevent employees from sending spam, jokes or otherwise, during working hours. Even Microsoft have made a committment to fighting spam. Their recent buyout of Giant Software may see spam filtering as a default feature in the next version of Microsoft Windows perhaps?
